Happy Chinese New Year everybody! It’s the year of the dragon, it is my year =P
This year I had the honor of performing at 2 Chinese New Year events back to back! Read on and watch to follow my journey =)
Stop 1: Waterloo!
Big shoutout to everyone at UWCSSA for having me back again! I had a blast last year and this year was amazing as well. Really need to thank Phil Chao, Jin, and Peter for making my trip so enjoyable and trouble-free. Most people dont understand how much time and effort it takes to plan an event, there are just too many things that can go wrong! Anyway, I landed and was greeted with a bunch of snow, which was pretty fun/trippy/cold/annoying all at the same time! I never see snow so it’s a refreshing change but it quickly gets annoying lol.. I’ve been spoiled by LA weather =P. Had breakfast with Phil and Daniel (shimmycocopuffs) but didn’t vlog during breakfast =(. Then basically showed up in the afternoon, chilled in the dressing room, got makeup put on, socialized with UWCSSA members, and went to perform! The meet and greet was super fun, got to meet a bunch of fans that I didnt meet the year before, and a few who returned from last year!
The whole show was in Chinese, and I met a few people who dont speak a word of Chinese and drove out from Toronto just to watch me!! That really made my trip and I really appreciate that level of love and support! It’s what really keeps me going and inspires me to write =). So thank you guys for that!
So the show was Friday night! Saturday morning we headed to Toronto for an interview with WOW Tv, checked out Pacific Mall, and made a surprise visit to Joseph Vincent and J.Reyez’s show! Check out footage from Waterloo and WOW tv below =)
Stop 2: Toronto!!
Made a surprise visit to Joseph Vincent and J. Reyez’s show! Had to pleasure to finally meet the amazing Lydia Paek (Amazingly soulful singer and amazing dancer who I’ve been a huge fan of since I can remember!), Tommy C and Sophia the awesome female beatboxer! I said hi to Joseph Vincent and was pretty caught off guard when he brought me on stage to sing with him lol! so I apologize for the crappy singing. After the show and meet and greet, NuLite brought us all out to eat fine Chinese dining. I love food. =) thanks NuLite! hope to be back in Toronto soon even if it’s just to hangout!
Had a 6:50 am international flight Sunday morning to Ohio State University so I was unable to continue partying with everyone after dinner =(. Footage from toronto below! =)

Whatup JReyez!

Finally got to meet Lydia Paek =)

I have no idea why I’m holding a heart balloon in this picture.. LOL

Stop 3: Ohio State University
Sorry Ohio! I didnt have my camera with me so I dont have any footage but I had a great time! It was kind of a last minute booking so I didnt really know what to expect, but the crowd was amazingly responsive and the meet and greet was insane! I sold out of CDs and T-shirts before the meet and greet was over =). Panda Inn was the meal of the night, and an afterparty followed. I slept like a baby Sunday night cause I was running on about 6 hours of sleep from the past 3 days, but then I missed my flight on Monday!!
Reschedule to Tuesday morning and now I’m finally home =).
I have to say.. Canada and Ohio showed love and support on a whole other level! They were truly excited to meet me and eager to support me. Literally every person who was in line to meet me bought something. A wristband? A cd? and T-shirt? And some bought multiple items! It wasn’t quite the same feeling I got from most local shows where 99% of the people just wanted a picture or a signature on their event ticket. And I just want to personally thank each and every person who came out to meet me in Canada and Ohio. Thank you for spending your hard earned money to support me, you’re allowing me to continue to make music and pursue what I love. I promise I will keep doing the best I can to write/produce quality music for you guys =) *special shoutout to Summer, Gene, and Edwin for being amazing hosts and taking care of me during my stay!
Thanks again to UWCSSA/CSSA for having me out to share Chinese New Year with you guys =)
Til next time,
J
